Christmas Tree Facts

Fraser Fir

The Fraser fir is considered by many to be the most beautiful of Christmas trees, renowned for its blue-green color and phenomenal needle retention. The Fraser Fir is closely related to the Balsam Fir. Grown in the Vermont mountains, this superb tree known for its deep green needles with a splash of silver underneath with great needle retention. No other Christmas tree lasts as long as these beauties, which can also support a heavy ornament. Seven to ten years in the field are required to produce a six- to seven-foot tree.

Balsam Fir

The Balsam Fir is the traditional Christmas tree of New England, renowned for its aromatic, soft needles and excellent needle retention. The needles are a deep green and have the fragrance that we associate with Christmas. Grown in high altitudes, the Vermont Balsam Fir endures long winters in a blanket of snow that melts away in the spring to supply water to keep trees fresh and deep green-blue. Having a fragrant Balsam Fir in your living room will make you feel that you walked into a Vermont forest as the fragrance permeates the room. Nine to ten years in the field are required to produce a six- to seven-foot tree.
