08/30/2016 12:31PM ● By Ryan FrischIf there’s a companion in your home with fins, fur, feathers, or scales, be sure to check out Best of Burlington’s new department, People & Pets, starting in the winter issue. You’ll find interesting facts, useful new product ideas, recipes for making your own treats for pets, and lots more. Here's a sampling of what to expect:
Fall is a great time to hit the trails with our four-legged kids! And the Burlington area offers wonderful places for both of you to enjoy the crisp autumn weather. The Island Line Rail Trail is one of 1600 trails supported by the nonprofit Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this rail-trail is now a wonderful place to walk your dog in Burlington. For more detailed trail information, please visit TrailLink.com.
Time is running out to enjoy one of the area’s best fundraising events for pets. The Humane Society of Chittenden County has hosted Bark & Brew every Thursday, 5:30–7:30pm. This fun time started on August 18, and the last one is on September 29th. If you haven’t participated, put it on your calendar now. The suggested donation is $15 per person and $5 for kids. Get unleashed! Dogs enjoy the HSCC’s play yard while their two-legged friends enjoy a local brew and snacks from Moe’s.
